The Food Bank for New York City coordinates the pickup and
delivery of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers,
retailers and government agencies to organizations that provide
free food to the city's hungry.
The Food Bank supplies the food
for over 200,000 meals a day for New Yorkers who otherwise
would go hungry or not eat enough
Over 61 million pounds of food
annually is redistributed to more than 1,200 nonprofit community
food programs throughout the five boroughs of New York City
.
Most of this food, if not reused,
would otherwise be destined for landfill |
