The
relationship between food and sustainability is something most people
don't think about every day...and this mentality leads to negative
environmental impacts
growing and processing food requires
tremendous nonrenewable energy
many species suffer from conventional
farming practices and much of the Earth is covered with farmland
that relies on toxic chemicals
huge amounts of food waste are buried
in the world's landfills. Many people believe that organics decompose
in landfills....but this is an urban myth - lack of proper air circulation
limits decomposition,
even for the banana peels and apples cores.
